Responsible travel guidelines

How we ask guests to travel in a place that is somebody's home.

Awaiting legal review

This page is a drafting template. It has not been reviewed by a qualified adviser, does not constitute legal advice, and must not be relied on as a final statement of our obligations or yours. Please ask us about anything that affects your booking.

The Dinagat Islands are not a resort. They are a province where people live, work and worship. These are the things we ask of every guest.

Respect places of worship

The PBMA Divine Master Shrine is a functioning place of worship and the spiritual heart of the province, not a photo stop. Dress modestly, keep your voice down, and follow your guide's lead on where photography is welcome.

Look after the water

  • Do not stand on, touch or collect coral.
  • Do not feed or chase marine life.
  • Take everything you brought back onto the boat with you, including bottle caps and food wrappers.

Ask before photographing anyone, especially children. If someone says no, that is the end of it.

Buy and hire locally

Where you have a choice, choose the local boat, the local guide and the local carinderia. It is the single most useful thing a visitor does.

Leave the place as you found it

Take nothing but photographs. Shells, sand and rock formations stay where they are.

Follow local rules

Local government units and site operators set their own rules on fees, access and conduct. Your guide will tell you what applies where.

These guidelines are a draft and require owner review before launch. Specific local ordinances — environmental fees, plastics rules and shrine etiquette — need confirmation with the LGU and the shrine before they are published as fact.
